This page collects the gameplay and world features currently documented by GTA VI Info. It distinguishes Rockstar's own material from attributed interviews and invited pre-release demonstrations. Preview details may change before release.

Source key

[edit]
  • Official showcase — Rockstar's August 2026 extended look.[1]
  • Rockstar interview — Dazed's interviews with named Rockstar staff.[2]
  • Invited demonstration — EL PAÍS reporting from a Rockstar-controlled PlayStation 5 demonstration.[3]
  • Invited creator report — identifiable attendees reporting from the demonstration.[4][5]

Characters and story

[edit]
Two playable protagonists
Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos are the playable leads, with their relationship at the centre of the story.[1][2]
Together or apart
Players can spend time with Jason and Lucia as a couple or explore independently as either protagonist.[2]
Fluid character switching
Control can move between Jason and Lucia during travel and combat, including switching between driver and passenger roles.[2][1]
Reactive relationship
Player choices and behaviour can influence the couple's relationship and lead to deeper narrative consequences.[2][3]
Dates and shared activities
The couple can spend time together outside story missions through dates and optional shared activities.[1][4]

Living world

[edit]
A more reactive Leonida
The world notices conspicuous player behaviour; openly carrying a rifle is one cited example.[2][3]
Dynamic pedestrians
Pedestrians have varied reactions, conversations and spontaneous situations that are not limited to mission triggers.[3]
Interactive surroundings
Everyday objects—including magazines, cans, doors, bins and vehicles—can participate in interactions rather than serving only as scenery.[3]
Working social feeds
The in-game phone contains social-media feeds tied to people and events around Leonida.[2][4]
Connected brands and shops
Fashion labels, vehicle brands, products, stores and advertising are designed as parts of a coherent fictional culture.[2]
Wildlife and varied environments
Wildlife and activities appear across cities, coasts, wetlands, countryside, wilderness and open water.[1][3]

Crime and police

[edit]
Expanded robberies
Store and vehicle robberies offer more choices and consequences than a single scripted approach.[1][3][4]
Six-star wanted level
The traditional six-star maximum returns, with searches expanding as the wanted level rises.[3][4]
Smarter searches
Police can search areas and use identifying details connected to a crime, including a vehicle, clothing or appearance.[4]
Vehicle security
Vehicles may use alarms, trackers and different lock types. Reported countermeasures include lockpicks and phone-based hacking.[3]
Criminal reputation
Actions contribute to a criminal profile or reputation system rather than a simple moral alignment bar.[3][4]
Environmental melee
Nearby objects and parts of vehicles, such as car doors, can become part of close combat.[3]

Player systems

[edit]
Health, stamina and focus
Jason and Lucia have health, stamina and focus attributes with temporary and lasting improvements.[3][4]
Focus ability
Focus can slow action, assist aiming and reveal useful weak points during combat.[3][4]
Body changes
Food can affect weight, exercise can build visible muscle, and prolonged exhaustion or stress can alter appearance.[2]
Optional exercise
Gyms, workouts and physical progression are available but are not required to complete the story.[2][4]
Layered money and loot
Cash, banked funds and stolen goods are handled separately; carried loot can be sold through criminal contacts.[4]
Reduced interface
HUD elements can be limited or hidden, allowing information to be read from the world itself.[3]

Vehicles and activities

[edit]
Heavier vehicle handling
An invited report describes greater weight and traction and higher top speeds than Grand Theft Auto V.[4]
No arcade-style car recovery
A vehicle left upside down reportedly cannot be rolled upright through directional controls.[5]
Fuel and electric charging
Combustion vehicles use fuel and electric vehicles may require charging, with the system described as avoiding constant busywork.[4]
Multiple travel services
Taxis, buses and other services provide alternatives for crossing the expanded map.[4]
Broad side activities
Shown or reported activities include kayaking, jet skis, scuba diving, paragliding, off-road driving, nightlife and shopping.[1][2][3]

Notes

[edit]

The final retail version may differ from preview demonstrations. A feature remains on this page only when its source is identifiable and the evidence tier is clear. See Sourcing policy.
